Spate of residential break-ins in West Roxbury

Boston Police report three homes were broken into on Oct. 19 and a fourth on Oct. 14 - all during the day.

Homes on Woodley Avenue, DeSoto Road, Edgemere Road and Ridgecrest Terrace were all broken into, with jewelery and cash the targets. In one case, a witness reported seeing three suspects, roughly 17 to 20, black males, one wearing a back pack. In the Edgemere Road break-in, the thieves took a World War II Purple Heart medal.

That is not West Roxbury. It is like a whole different world on that side of Washington Street. It would not surprise me if the suspects lived in the housing project over there.

I know I've been shaky on my neighborhood lines before, but sorry, no getting around the fact that that area's 02132.

Adam,

You are correct, it is West Roxbury. What i think this other person is saying is that is an area in West Roxbury that is not as desirable as other areas ("it's like another world up there" as he/she commented). Kind of like if someone wanted to buy a house there, I have heard people actually say "if you grew up in West Roxbury you wouldn't buy there". A little West Roxbury snobbery.

A typical W. Roxbury resident's response to that story would be "Oh no - too close to home!", followed by "Oh, over there, nothing to worry about." once they found out which streets the robberies were on.

Yes, it's West Roxbury but the part most W. Roxbury residents try to ignore.

Solid W.R. - not even close. Rosi ends at the W.R.Parkway and Stony Brook reservation.

Hey, dum-dum,

That part of WR has too many scumbags close by because of the proximity to Georgetown, but is very much West Roxbury. Take it from someone who knows. You probably grew up in Newton and know nothing.

Oh, I get it, that's not West Roxbury, that's where the black folks live. Right?

THE MAYOR AND THE POLICE DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS AREA. WE HAVE SCHOOL BUSES THAT USE GEORGETOWNE AS A CUT THRU TO WASHINGTON ST. WE HAVE BUSES THAT USE THE BACKSIDE OF THE OHRENBERGER SCHOOL INSTEAD OF USING WEST BOUNDARY ROAD. WHAT DOES THE MAYOR TELL US TO DO. GET THE BUS NUMBER AND CALL IT IN AND THEY WILL INVESTIGATE..WHY WONT THE MAYOR JUST HAVE THE SCHOOL POLICE DO THE JOB.WE HAVE PEOPLE WHO LIVE ILLEGALLY IN GEORGETOWNE AND PARK THEIR CARS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS SO THEY WONT GET CAUGHT. ASK FOR RESIDENT PARKING SIGNS AND STICKERS AND WE WERE TOLD WE COULD NOT HAVE THEM.CHESTNUT HILL REALTY WANTS TO BUILD MORE UNITS ON EDGEMERE RD. WHY ? DON'T WE HAVE ENOUGH SECTION 8 AND DRUG ATTICS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD NOW BETWEEN GEORGETOWNE AND EDGEMERE.IT IS SAD WHEN WE AS NEIGHBORS HAVE TO INSTALL CAMERA'S AND ALARMS ON OUR HOUSES JUST TO PROTECT WHAT WE OWN. MY NEXT STEP IS A SIGN AND A GUN. COME ON MY PROPERTY AND I WILL SHOOT THEN ASK QUESTIONS. MAYOR MENINO IS USELESS. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING FOR YEARS. WE ALSO HAVE THOSE 3 THIEVES ON CAMERA WALKING UP DESOTO RD. ALL AFTERNOON. WHERE WE THE POLICE.
