Cambridge to get even closer to becoming a bland wasteland?

Marc Levy discusses a Cambridge zoning hearing tomorrow (Thursday) that could determine whether the Zeitgeist Gallery continues to offer performances at its Inman Square location.

Seems at least one neighbor has complained and a city zoning official has taken the opportunity to demand the gallery pay for a $500 yearly entertainment license.

... [F]or a city as boastful of its funk as it is of its fiscal power, this is an awfully grim approach to an enduring source of art and enlightenment, and it seems like part of an ominous trend. ...

The hearing is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. at the Senior Center, 806 Massachusetts Ave., across from City Hall in Central Square.

Don't the neighbors know how to have fun?

One neighbor complains and they get a hearing? These are the kind of problems you get when the needs of the few are put before those of the majority.
