Try living in Kenmore Square instead of visiting and, well,
let's just say the Renaissance of Kenmore Square was more than welcome.
Nothing wrong with the old Kenmore memories, but I'll take listening to the Fenway Crowd roar over a cold beer at an outside table at Eastern Standard anyday over the Rat.
BTW, re: the blog posting, India Quality is still alive and well next to Nuggets in Kenmore Square.
Kenmore Square's always been a pretty cool place.
I lived just right outside Kenmore Square back in the late 1970's, when I was attending B. U., and it was a cool place back then. I remember when the Rat was there--and hearing some rather both cool and awful stories about what went on there. Intense.
India Quality

The Day the Music Died
As soon as the Rat was no more, there was no more Kenmore Square.
How come ...
