I am looking to support organizations helping Afghan refugees resettling in Boston, Cambridge or New Hampshire. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Not Boston-based but a good organization nevertheless. Located in southern Connecticut.

And a couple of replies (including my own). Find someplace else to discuss 20 years of American involvement in Afghanistan. This is a place to suggest ways to help refugees who might be heading our way.

Thousands of Afghan families and individuals are arriving in the United States after a perilous journey from Kabul. Many will join us here in Greater Boston. They are leaving their homeland behind, some with virtually no possessions as they begin new lives as immigrants and as our neighbors in our communities.

As Jews, we know what it's like to be the stranger, and that's why we are committed to helping those in need. You can help.

Here are three ways you can provide for the immediate needs of Afghan immigrants and refugees:

GIVE: 100% of your gift will provide direct support through Catholic Charities of Boston and Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) to the families and individuals resettling in Boston. Assistance will include food, housing, employment services, and other basic needs.

SPONSOR A FAMILY: Team up with synagogue members, school groups, or other communities to sponsor a family with furnishings and funds, or help to meet other needs. Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is our partner that will lead and implement a community-wide synagogue response. To learn more, contact Rachie Lewis at JCRC.

HELP FIND HOUSING: Help JCRC find housing for immigrants and refugees arriving in Boston. Our community has already given generous amounts to subsidize families in market-rate apartments. If you have, or anyone you know has, a home to rent, contact Rachie Lewis.

With families arriving now, it is essential that we offer as much as we can, as quickly as we can. We hope you can give generously or find other ways to get involved.

Thank you for providing this information. I have donated to several groups, but none were local. I am happy to donate and will contact these agencies to find out how I can become personally involved in this effort.

I'm glad my community understands that you fight terror by relocating people away from terror. There's no Taliban if the Taliban makes $0, there's just a bunch of incels.

This country, at its best, does a damn good job of gatekeeping, and doesn't get nearly enough credit for that.
