Massresistance Watch:

This blog is akin to KlanWatch. We are watching the Hate groups in Massachusetts, namely the Massresistance blog and Article8.org. While they are the rightest of the right and mainly a fringe group, their hate speech should not go unnoticed.

Blog for Boston:

Boston's blog about taking back Boston from the grassroots! We'll be talking about the political and community life of Boston, with an especial eye to helping people get involved.

Snark of the day: Who knew the grassroots ran Boston?

Several local bloggers are doubling as politicos and reporting back from the Democratic issues convention in Lowell this weekend, including SCO, Ben, Patrick and Kristie, the latter of whom admits to finding Lowell a bit creepy, but who does find at least one thing to like about Lowell - free beer at union parties:

Look for blogger and podperson CC on Channel 5's 6 p.m. news tonight Monday night.

... Doing a trend segment on podcasting. We did a big interview segment and then they recorded me from all sorts of angles recording an actual Accident Hash and then we did some B-Roll footage. ...

UPDATE: Yes, it's been pushed back to Monday (thanks, Shelley); CC writes they might want to time it to run with the launch of the Channel 5 podcast. Yes, the Channel 5 Podcast, brought to you by Bernie & Phyl's (no, I don't know that, but why not, why shouldn't they annoy you on the Internets too?).

Are you liberal? Do you blog about religion? Or wish you could? Philocritics gather this Saturday at the First Parish in Milton for a picnic:

... Of course you can meet all of your favorite Boston-area Unitarian Universalist bloggers — Tom of Prophet Motive, the mysterious PeaceBang, the equally mysterious Fausto, Philocrites (and Mrs Philocrites!), Adam of Unity, Rick "Transparent Eye" Heller, Paul Wilczynski — who am I forgetting? — and hopefully I can even lure Pericles down from his New Hampshire polis. There are even rumors that Scott Wells (the Boy in the Bands) and Chalicechick may trek all the way from Washington, D.C.

TobinThat's Michael's judgment of City Councillor John Tobin's Web presence. On the one hand, it's cool that Tobin (who represents Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury) has a well designed, blog-based Web site (run by Steve Garfield). On the other hand, Tobin himself isn't actually blogging on the site - maybe a symptom of the fact that true blogging and discourse means taking a risk, and that's one thing politicians hate to do, Michael says:

... Perhaps, rather than getting politicians to blog, it is time for bloggers to enter politics. ...

Notes from Tobin's meeting with the Berkman bloggers last week
Video of his talk

Ed. note: Two years ago, Matt O'Malley actually blogged and dipped into the Wicked Good Conference to talk about Boston issues when he ran for an at-large council seat. So far, his 2005 Web site looks like any other generic candidate site, but one can hope there's more to come.

Boston Crazy Driving:

Documenting all the stupid, weird, unusual and just-plain-crazy driving maneuvers I witness in the Boston area on a daily basis - without being redundant.

Closet Deadhead (XML) is a series of discussions by and for Grateful Dead fans, by Sam Whitmore (a.k.a. Mr. Media Survey Guy).

Andy Ihnatko posted his first podcast today:

This particular voice came from a lugubrious elderly New Englander, in a commercial for some sort of clever device that prevents dead leaves from clogging up the gutters on your roof.

If you have a personal blog, and an interest in local stuff, you might want to get yourself a BlogMap. I have.

So yesterday Boston Sports Media Watch quoted an e-mail from boston.com Editor Teresa Hanafin on how we shouldn't take Boston Dirt Dogs "scoops" seriously because it's a blog, for God's sake. Today, Bruce over at BSMW pulls up an interesting post from Hanafin from last May, when boston.com announced it was buying Boston Dirt Dogs:

... We are going to hold BostonDirtDogs to the same editorial standards as the rest of the site, but we're going to work really hard NOT to squelch its spirit. ...
