Seems people are continuing to park across from the train station, even though the city never cleared the road to the curb, narrowing the road to one lane and creating backups that now extend down to Roslindale.

The Clumsy Jeweler reported around 9 a.m. on her efforts to get a bus to the train station this morning:

5 full 32's passed since 7:45. Finally got on one. Driver says it will be an hour to Forest Hills.

Several city councilors say new flight paths out of Logan Airport have shifted early morning flights over neighborhoods not used to being awoken at 5:15 a.m. by low-flying jets - and they want the FAA and Massport to explain what they're going to do about that.

"It's really impacting heavily the quality of life of constituents in my area, who are not as familiar with low flying airplanes as they are now," City Councilor Tim McCarthy (Hyde Park, Roslindale, Mattapan) said, adding he has also heard complaints from neighboring West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain.

The owners of the Boston Cheese Cellar on Birch Street said tonight they're closing the shop at the end of the month.

In a newsletter to customers, Kathy Lacher and John Pierce say they're looking for somebody who'd want to continue selling cheese to Roslindale. They plan to go out with a fondue party on Feb. 28.

Roslindale's only cheese shop opened in 2006; it was later joined on Birch Street by a wine shop.

This driver left his window open last night when they came home from the party. The inside was as you would expect, completely full of snow and a huge mess. Next time, take a cab. ..

Kristie Helms reports on her experiences so far toodling around town in her new Mercedes electric vehicle:

Charging hasn’t proven to be an issue - mostly because my employer has two chargers in the garage where I usually park during the day. When I need a boost on the weekend, I can plug into a regular outlet at home. Takes awhile longer, but gets the job done. There are also nearby public chargers at Forest Hills T Stop and at the JP Whole Foods.

As Walsh, students listen, BTU President Richard Stutman talks.

Mayor Walsh and Boston Teachers Union President Richard Stutman today announced agreement on a plan to add 40 minutes to the school day at the 60 elementary and middle schools in Boston that don't already have them.

Walsh said the move is a major step to ensuring "a world-class education for every student in the city." He said experience elsewhere and in Boston schools that already have longer days, such as the Trotter and Orchard Garden, show the extra time translates into better test scores, better educations and better beginnings for life.
