This is a HUGE steal for NESN! Shortly after the creation of "ESPN Boston" and NESN goes out and usurps their top gun in the area? Wow. I mean, there's still the Sports Guy, but Gammons was Boston and Baseball for ESPN, bar none, and now he's gone local.
I wonder if his recent health scare had anything to do with this as it seems he'll be able to stay rooted close to home a bit more than he probably was able to do while jetting around for ESPN's coverage of everything.
Well, I'm glad I'll get to see more of Gammo talking Sox ball this coming season. Great news in the off-season. Great news.
He's actually moving to MLB network to do pretty much the same thing he did at ESPN, minus the on-site appearances at live games. Articles I've read mentioned the NESN thing as kind of a throw-in, but I'm sure he's happy to be able to focus on the Sox on a regular basis (in fact it wouldn't surprise me if MLB's terms stipulated less Sox talk than what he provided on ESPN).
"NESN has given me the opportunity to come back to my roots and once again be part of my neighborhood, and I am truly excited about it. During the 2007 World Series, Matt Holliday said that what differentiated Fenway Park from any other stadium is that fans don’t react, they anticipated, and that creates a tension unlike any other audience in sports. It is a great feeling to be back with that audience."

Welcome home, Mr. Gammons.
Yup, it's a lifestyle move
Good to see Pete back home, and I wish him well.
He's actually moving to MLB

Not according to NESN
They seem pretty proud of him coming to NESN and play down the MLB agreement he's made.
In fact in Gammons' own words:
