Good news for the saturated-fat deprived in Hyde Park
By adamg on Fri, 07/30/2010 - 11:52am
HydeParkMass.org reports the McDonald's on Hyde Park Avenue is re-opening on Sunday.
Sadly, however, the kiddie area is gone forever.

Oh, no! No more playground?
The kids won't be too happy about that. Good news for the indoor playground on VFW parkway next to Gold's Gym, I guess.
And I suppose we'll all be the healthier for the loss- now there's no good excuse to go to McDonald's.
There's always the one in Norwood
Although it hasn't been the same since they got rid of the ball pits and the Ronald McDonald magic square.
My favorite was the long-gone one at the Burger King near Gold's Gym: The slide was like two stories high and you had to climb up this rope thing to get to it. I remember when the kidlet conquered the beast for the first time.
Then, of course, they tore it down. Damn, I miss the good ol' days :-).
I remember the carnivals over there in the late '70s
The first McDonalds was a lot where they held various summer carnivals, right across the street from Star Market. The latest they held a carnival was in 1979, before they razed the area and made it into McDonalds Mark I and the Blake Estates.
A lot of kids got hurt because the carny operators didn't care much about safety. You could get all the cheap junk you wanted, though.
News Flash: Not today, clown
Sunday: I just drove by at about 11:00 am, and the place was still closed. The message board said something like "Sorry for the delay".
Must've just missed you
That's about when I was heading out of the Shaw's. There were three kids sitting in a corner of the McDonald's lot looking forlorn. Or maybe bored. Hard to tell :-).
