Boston's best taco place in a gas station is closing

Villa Mexico on Cambridge Street on Beacon Hill could transmogrify into a food truck or seek donations to re-open elsewhere; owner reports on never-ending battles with landlord, who plans to tear the whole thing down and put up an office building.

Through the years, we have not received professional treatment. The appliances, heat and electricity have broken repeatedly, leaving us with spoiled food or freezing during the winters- as some of you have experienced. Leaks are very evident now. Basic maintenance or health regulation requirements have also been ignored.

I love stopping by there. It's such an odd location for a Mexican restaurant; being in a gas station's convenience store hinders their success.

Their press release says they probably won't stay in BH but perhaps move to the South End.

To which I say, "Welcome!"

Trifuno is great, it's on East Berkeley Street so too far to walk sometimes. Villa Mexico should open on my block.

Lovely mother and daughter, I've had the pleasure to meet.
I got to talking to them while they made my food it never got rang up and we said goodbyes like old friends.
When I realized I hadn't paid I went back and the daughter laughed and said I should have just paid next time.
Hope it works out for them.
