Hmm ... I live not far from the Creperie, and whenever I pass by there seems to be a small crowd, presumably waiting to get in.

I admit to not having been inside myself in, oh, n years. It's just a place I pass on the way from here to there or back, so to speak.

And I live practically across the street from the Canteen, for which, when it was imminent, I had great hopes of the return of some basic, reasonably priced food in the immediate nabe. Wrong. Recently, I haven't seen any signs of life there (I tend to come and go at odd times, though), so thought it had become defunct. That wouldn't surprise me, since the menu (at least when it opened) was pretty strange, upscale, and entirely un-canteen-like, and it never seemed to be all that busy.

I also live nearby, and think that the crowd right there is normally for the frozen yogurt place downstairs.
I was there in October with a small group (4) on a Sunday morning when they just opened. We lingered for a short amount of time (15 minutes after finishing our crepes) when one of the counter staff came over and bussed our tables and took an extra chair from our table, encouraging us in no uncertain terms to move on.

Now I could understand if we were lingering with laptops for 3 hours, but we'd hardly been in the place for 30 minutes. We were also a group of 30something academics, hardly a rowdy or disruptive crowd, and there were several open tables, so we weren't preventing others from being seated.
My SO said something nicely to them about it, they were surly back, and needless to say we haven't rushed back.

Canteen has these odd tinted windows that makes it hard to see if it's open or not (not a good marketing ploy IMHO). I haven't been in there, but the menu didn't appeal. Maybe I'll try it for the crepes- just won't try to linger at all

I really liked this place, it was friendly and the crepes were awesome. This is a loss, IMO.

To me, too many of these harvard landlords are a bunch of money grubbing suckheads. She thinks it will be easy to rent? She should look around at all the vacancies.

The crepes were yummy, and the people who worked there were cool. Too bad the landlord is such a bastard. What a drag. Another one bites the dust, I guess.
