Washington Street was shut down Thursday afternoon when two men wanted in connection with a fight barricaded themselves into a garage and the SWAT unit arrived to get them out.

Boston Police report one of the men, Corey Govan, 40, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed possession of a firearm after he left the garage at 2953 Washington St., near Dimock Street.

According to police, a 911 caller reported a fight, followed by two men fleeing into the garage:

Officers attempted to make contact with the individuals inside the garage. When officers were unable to establish contact, a Code 99 (barricaded suspect) was declared. A perimeter was established around the location and the Boston Police SWAT Team was called to the scene.

It took about two hours for police to get the two out; the second man was not charged.

Exactly a month ago, two men were shot, one in the chest, near that location..

They're throwing people up against vans on their way home from the grocery store while gangbangers have taken over Egleston Square.

A friend recently told me that he was walking through Egleston and a guy said "Son, whatchew lookin' fo?" "Oh, I'm not looking for anything..." "Boy, if you ain't in Egleston Square lookin' for somethin, you shouldn't BE in Egleston Square."

Awesome. In broad daylight, the drug dealers are telling people to get lost. But hey, glad to hear the parking lot of Stop and Shop is safe from guys buying their groceries.

So you would have them do what?

out of the cars and on foot patrols in the area. Build a reputation and camaraderie with the neighborhood.

It works, but it requires some proactive work on behalf of the police in the community, rather then reactive work.

They have tried foot patrols at 10X the rate with no results. Gangbangers aren't effected by foot patrols, and gangbangers are not residents of anywhere.

How does a city get rid of gangbangers?

Are you saying that the gangbangers are homeless? If not, everyone lives somewhere.

So apparently you didn't live in Boston 25 years ago, when all you suggest was done. Were you even out of diapers 25 years ago?

Even a cowardly moron like you can use Google - try it:

Hector Morales, Darren Greeley and Thomas Gomperts.

They are indeed residents. They reside with their mothers and baby mothers who live in apartments paid for by taxpayers in the form of section 8 vouchers. Every damned one of them. No adult males should be anywhere near those apartments but no one appears to want to do anything about it.

I wasn't aware you knew every single suspected criminal and Boston! It's nice to know that somebody knows where they all live, what their lives are like and where men should ever be allowed.

Eh, don't feed the trolls by replying with something that sounds like discussion. Just tell them you don't appreciate their racist and classist comments and then move along.

So now there's a correct way to respond on UH?
Glad you have it all figured out.

If you had ever lived on "that side of Washington" you would know that this did not occur on "that side of Washington". Therefore, I would conclude that you did not ever really live on "that side of Washington".

The person is glad they don't live on the side of Washington where this occurred. So we can presume that they now live on the other side. Yes?

When thinking of V-66 - I always think of either that "Human League" video "Don't you Want me"- and another song- "One Night in Bangkok"- a remake I think- with a curvy attractive women with ample cleavage and a snake wrapped around her.
