Some notes on last night's Boston's Finest:
Stephan Pires was shot to death in the Universal Barbershop on Sept. 27 - the latest example of the deadly violence that has plagued Boston's Cape Verdean community for years.
The show had footage from a triple shooting that Donnie Wahlberg seemed to say was on Dakota Street. Based on the foliage in some of the scenes, the show was largely filmed last fall. There weren't any triple shootings on Dakota Street then (there was a murder there in July and another shooting in November). However, there was a triple shooting on Oct. 1 on Park Street that left one victim dead. The initial police response was by officers patrolling nearby on Dakota Street, who heard the gunfire.

Does anybody know which housing project the suspect with a knife who broke down in tears was pulled out of? It was somewhere near Ruggles Street.

Hate to get racial here
But, are there any white criminals in Boston? Maybe it is just the focus of the locations on the show and the type of officers profiled, but other than some kid urinating on Hyde Park Avenue, this show seems focused on only the arrest of darker hued persons of this fair city.
The first or second episode
Showed detectives going on a South Boston drug sweep after a couple of murders (on Twitter, I initially pointed to a story about the wrong drug sweep - there were two of them in South Boston last year).
Who cares?
A criminal is a criminal.
I've always thought one of the dumbest things to have on any type of application is the race box.

You might care if you were one of the darker hued people who mostly only sees folks who look like yourself in the mainstream media when they've committed crimes, and who rarely sees their achievements being celebrated, or even just slice-of-life tidbits of their communities.

You don't watch a lot of current mainstream media then. The most immediate example that comes to mind is the hugely popular morning show on ABC, Live with Kelly and Michael. Michael is the guy that replaced Regis. Michael Strahan is as you strangely say 'one of the darker hued people.' And, to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't committed any crimes.
Oprah? Ever hear of her? She's a media mogul and a positive role model. Don't think she has committed any crimes.
'Rarely sees their achievements being celebrated?' Have you ever heard of our basketball team the Boston Celtics. Again, wildly popular and widely loved in New England. Their games are televised, btw. If any Celtics players have committed crimes, I'm not aware of them.
How about our President Obama? Again, celebrated by many, regularly on television/internet, the leader of our nation and admired by many. Guess what! Millions of people voted for him... twice! Pretty sure he hasn't been convicted of anything either.
The most regularly-seen-on-tv criminal in the Greater Boston area is Whitey Bulger. Media can't help but report on that guy, ad nauseum.
Who's to say I'm not a darker hued person?
If you take a look at some of my previous posts, much older, you'll see I have experienced racism. Which is why I strongly feel it's a complete waste to get hung up on. I know people of my race break laws, and have little regard for law abiding citizens. So do people of other races. I also know people of my race have made great contributions to sciences, society, and helped advance the world as a whole. So have people of other races. People who sit around and point out multiple cases of racism often times do just that. Point point point and point. Which really does nothing.

No John it is obvious you don't hate to get racial . Boston is about 53 percent white ,
23 percent black , 9 percent Asian , 18 percent Hispanic , the rest either mixed or other . Yes there were a few white people arrested on the show . The group who funded this study - The New Century Foundation - only believes the races should be kept separate. That would make him a white separatist rather than a white "supremacist."
Thee groups founder, Jared Taylor, is different than your ordinary hater in that he actually likes Jewish people, so I guess he's something of a new age bigot.
I'm still aghast. Seeing a rapidly racist organizations study cited as primary source material is a new one for me on UHUB, but I've only lurked for a about 6 or 7 years.

Google city homicide maps. They exist for all major cities.
Did it occur to you
That people who are targeted for arrest are often people of color?
That it is well known that people of color are more likely to see jail time than a white person in a similar circumstance?

Open a newspaper (or read UHub)
and come to your own conclusion. If you don't agree with the opinion "most homicides are committed by young Black men in the City of Boston" maybe you should make sure your reading about the right Boston.

It's a reality show! The last thing you should expect is the truth! You think those duck guys are really that fucking stupid? That Kris Jenner cares about nothing but the well being of her children?
True, but...
Comparing duck dynasty and the K.....(I refuse to even speak/type that name) to a show like Boston's finest or Cops isn't quite accurate. Of course BF isn't "reality", but they aren't creating crimes for the cameras, and these guys aren't on the show to someday get an acting gig, or their own show. I generally despise all reality TV, but don't think Boston's Finest is bad at all.
Follow the money
The kinds of crime that make good reality TV are associated with poverty. That's the overlap with race. Though come to think of it I bet someone could make good tv out of chasing down white collar criminals.
