The folks at the Boston City Archives wonder if you can figure out when and where in Boston this photo was taken. See it larger.

For once I know the answer
Meridian St. near the corner of Decatur in East Boston.
Judging by the presence of what looks like bananas among the produce, and the Liberty Bonds poster in the window, I'm guessing summer 1918.
ETA: I'm really curious about the blue tint. Cyanotype, or blue toner? I didn't think either was archivally stable.
Meridian St. Est Boston.
Meridian St. East Boston. Winnah.
Agree....
.....one of those old address registry thingies says there was a grocer named Burnham on meridian street as well as sullivan's shoe store.
ETA---the same street as the Citizens Complaint of the Day post with the dirty diapers all over the place.
Two big clues
Sign on building: Meridian Street
Liberty Bonds sign - had to be between May 1917 and end of 1918.
Meridian and Gove
Meridian and Gove Streets...
same corner today http://goo.gl/maps/ivb4X
The Answer
Thanks for playing! This is Meridian St at Decatur St, ca. 1915-1930. (We're thinking its probably closer to 1917-1919).
Liberty Bonds
They were not issued until May, 1917. Last reissue was October, 1918 (although the poster may have been up for a while after).

Anybody out there know what
Anybody out there know what became of all of the millions of cobblestones in the streets of Boston? I know sometimes they just buried them under pavement, but I always look at work sites when they're digging up the street and have never seen even one granite block unearthed.
