This is an actual tragedy. Their prices on produce were extremely competitive, and I could get whole slabs of pork belly to baconize. I tried to get pork belly across the street at Stop and Shop once, and no lie, he tried to sell me frozen tripe. Tripe bacon sounds like a punishment.

Not to mention the frozen potsticker case, the steamed buns, on and on. And the fish, scaled and filleted in front of you.

Full pork bellies, rind on or off, are always available at Puritan Beef, 90 Blackstone...

had Lowe's looking at very nearby property.

can shove it. We don't need a Lowe's in the same parking lot as a Home Depot.

No different than putting up monstrosity big box condos, another bar, restaurant, pizza joint or nail salon.

Different because all of those things increase the diversity of commerce in South Bay. Another huge home improvement store does not. It blocks out retail space that could be utilized by any number of those things that you list.

But by all means, you want a Lowe's so bad, lease the land and build one. I wont shop there.

I would be very surprised if they were permanently closed. They just spend the last few months rearranging the store and building out a new food court.

that a rumor that it will share the space with a dollar store is true, but it doesn't look good. The old produce section of Kam Man is already fully enclosed as a standalone Dollar Tree store, about the size of a typical 7-Eleven, with wall signage all around, and at the back, a dairy case and a frozen foods case. If there's a smaller Kam Man surviving, it can't be seen at all from outside.

I'm really unhappy about this. The produce was awesome and very cheap, to say nothing of all the Asian groceries, great meats and seafood. Guess I'm back to playing dodge 'em in the truly terrifying parking lots of the South End's C-Mart and Ming's.

I am not so sure they are closed, but I will visit tonight
I was just there this past weekend, the Kam Man entrance has been re-directed to the left, produce has moved (and now dimly lit) as have the refrigerated units and registers. The fish section was rocking as always.

I loved Super 88 and now Kam Man. It will survive!

Also, I will stop lurking and start commenting more.

Thanks Adam.

Peace UHubbers!

Any Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline or nearby stores carry Turmeric Tea?...

Sounds like something Trader Joe would have, not sure what it really is though. I drink Lipton's.

There are quite a few teas at mapi.com with turmeric. I'm a kapha dosha and a lot of kapha balancing teas have turmeric.

I make almond milk with turmeric and cinnamon. Heat it up and prepare for a trip to happy town!

They have been renovating for a couple of months now and the sign on the door today said closed for renovation. It sure didn't look like the y were permanently closing.

Get my Conch for fritters?
Get my Green Tea Kit Kats?
Get a live eel to release in Dorchester Bay?
Get 3 avocados for a dollar? (Hard or overripe only)
Get fresh lime leaf?
Get a beautifully freshly roasted duck?

Here's hoping to a quick renovation and why do we need another dollar store?

They have kaffir lime leaf? I looked there but I don't speak mandarin and the floor staff mostly has limited english.

Please tell me where, and if you go back after the reno, i'd love to hear if its still there.

They do.

It was located in in the produce section near the other herbs (thyme, basil, etc) packed in green styrofoam tray, wrapped in cellophane. Usually packaged 10 leaves per package, sometimes fresh sometimes half dried up.
