DA: Franklin man was on quite a ride even before he hit a car in a Roslindale drive thru; now he faces fourth OUI charge

Dominick Revell, 43, was released on $500 bail today at his arraignment on charges of OUI, fourth offense, possession of both heroin and cocaine and driving without a license, after an incident in the drive-thru lane at the American Legion McDonald's last night, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

According to the DA's office, Revell rear-ended a car with his Ford F550 truck around 8:50 p.m. The damage to the car was minor, but when he gave the car's owner a learner's permit and registration for a trailer not attached to his truck, then got back in his vehicle and "nodded off," the other driver called police, the DA's office reports.

Upon their arrival, Boston Police officers located Revell slumped over inside the vehicle with blood and mucus visible on his upper lip - a discharge that officers had previously observed on heroin users who had snorted the drug and overdosed, prosecutors said. Officers summoned medical assistance and attempted to rouse Revell.

Once officers were finally able to wake Revell, he allegedly panicked, placed his hands on the steering wheel and stepped on the gas pedal; the vehicle, however, was not in gear. Officers were able to prevent Revell from placing the truck in gear and placed him in handcuffs after a struggle.

While searching his car for a driver's license, officers found in plain view "what appeared to be a crack pipe, a glass jar containing crack cocaine, and baggies containing heroin and crack cocaine," as well as a couple of empty plastic bags, the DA's office continues.

Revell had been convicted three times on OUI charges in 2002 and 2003 out of Wrentham District Court, prosecutors say.

Innocent, etc.

He's slumped over the wheel of a running, powerful truck and you don't shut it off?

Keyless ignition system? These are offered on some newer model vehicles.

Oh THAT'S nice. Thank you BPD for more than likely prevented injury or possibly death to other drivers who could have ended up in this guy's path had he taken off in the car. Scary.

Only $500 bail?

And he'll also probably barely serve any time and will be driving under the influence again real soon.

3 confirmed OUIs, caused an accident, heroin paraphernalia in the vehicle, signs of heroin usage, and he's out on a $500 bail? Love this world-class court system.

He should be sent immediately to inpatient rehab for a minimum of 30 days. What possible good can come from releasing him back into his own OUI, druggie world?
