Bail set for alleged driver in fatal East Boston crash; victim's identity still unknown

A Lynn man was held in lieu of $20,000 bail today on charges he drunkenly struck and killed a pedestrian on New Year's Day, then tried to walk away, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Christopher Nalchajian, 33, of Lynn, was charged with vehicular homicide, operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident causing death after the crash on Saratoga Street around 6:30 a.m. Prosecutors had asked for $30,000 bail.

The DA's office adds investigators have yet to determine the identity of the man Nalchajian allegedly killed.
