Our squirrels are too fat

The Globe reports tourists are starting to talk about the fur-covered butterballs in the Public Garden and on the Common.

The squirrels are FLUFFY!

Check back in the spring when the fattest survive and are miraculously svelte.

I propose little squirrel-sized treadmills that run on solar power.

Single digit temps.

in the Public Garden and the Common so they don't get sunburn. Especially for those white ones.

Less rat poison = more raptors = common becomes a buffet.

I thought only squirrels in the red states were obese.

Tourists visit popular Boston attractions, feed squirrels; inexplicably wonder why squirrels are overweight.

Yes, I'm sure some locals do it too, but it's probably a safe assumption that the above is a significant contributing factor.

are so used to being fed, they come up to anyone who's holding food and stand on their hind legs to beg.

I don't like squirrels at all and I did not find it cute.

I said it before and I'll say it again,"The only good squirrel ...is a flat squirrel!" Rats with fluffy tails!

... is not adorable.

What's "not adorable" is the damage these creatures cause to homes and property. Recently Christmas tree lights in the Boston Common needed replacement because of squirrels chewing thru the wires. Adorable? I think not.

We like our super sized meals just as they are.

The squirrels on the common are quite used to humans. They will sit on a bench with you, how cute is that? How am I supposed to ignore those little begging eyes?

There are more things to worry about than fat squirrels.

Perfect size for roasting.

First-hand knowledge that this is true! They look so cute, too.

Doesn't this mean we're in for a bad winter?

Myself and my neighbors have noticed that the squirrels in our tourist free Fells area are unusually rotund this year. Was this a mast year? Are we in for another arctic vortex?

I am a fat squirrel
Life has its hurtles
I gather my nuts
and I have a fat butt
someone get me a girdle

If you think those squirrels are big, check out the size of the Fenway goose poop.

is a sign of a harsh winter to come.
