The owner of Fazenda Coffee Roasters across from the Forest Hills T stop is seeking an all-alcohol license with which to change the coffeehouse into a restaurant specializing in "tastings" - menus that pair particular drinks with a changing roster of food items. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board says Chau Chow City on Essex Street wasn't to blame for an argument between two tables of women that ended with combatants throwing plates and silverware at each other.

The board voted "no violation" for the incident early in the morning of Aug. 17 that left the restaurant in shambles by the time police arrived.

As police continue to hunt for at least one man, possibly in a silver car, who shot two women early on Sept. 6, a Yawkey Way bar is denying it had anything to do with the incident. Read more.

Members of rival gangs from Dorchester and Mattapan briefly turned Boston Bowl on Morrissey Boulevard into a battleground early on Aug. 15, with a member of one gang shot at in the parking lot and a member of the other having to evade bowling balls hurled at him - before somebody caught up with him and punched him in the face hard enough to break his nose. An argument between neighboring tables at Chau Chow City on Essex Street early one August morning ended with plates and silverware flying through the air - and generally crashing to the ground, except for one plate that connected with a woman's cheek first, police told the Boston Licensing Board this morning. A Brighton man who celebrated his 24th birthday last month by taking a leap into Boston Harbor from the top of Legal Harborside on Northern Avenue got the restaurant hauled before the Boston Licensing Board today to explain how it will keep that from happening again. Read more.

Star Market is hoping customers will buy foods to eat on patios outside its Dorchester, Fenway and Allston stores.

The chain goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday for permission to add patios at the three locations, similar to what the Whole Foods in the South End offers - with 24-hour patio seating at the Fenway store. Read more.

At least temporarily, the city's two licensing boards will have a single chairwoman. Patricia Malone is out as director of the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing. A couple weeks ago, Mayor Walsh named Christine Pulgini, chairwoman of the Boston Licensing Board as interim director of Consumer Affairs and Licensing, at least for the next two months. Read more.
