I work right there and I live across the river. This stretch of Mass Ave in front of the Christian Science center is by far the most terrifying part of my daily bicycle commute. Drivers lay on their horn behind me when I try to turn left into the plaza, just because they're in a car and I'm on a bike and they think I don't belong in front of them.
It seems that there's something about being in a car – if you can use that increasingly quaint term to describe the massive steel behemoths that crowd our public ways – that makes one more much more likely to behave like a sociopath. Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me at all that an SUV driver would treat another human being this way.
I was out that day and didn't see this accident. I wish that I could help. Being a victim of a hit-and-run is my worst nightmare.
Do you mean the one who was going the wrong way on the other side of the street right into traffic, blew through a red light and a crosswalk full of pedestirans?
Oh look, yet another anonymous loser who saw a poorly behaving cyclist and can extrapolate that out to indict all cyclists, especially those involved in hit and runs. What a uniquely logical point of view. Just one question for you:
I saw a drunk driver the other night. When do you plan to stop drinking before getting behind the wheel?
