BostInnovation reports on a pair of guys who are readying a mobile sneaker fair for cutting-edge suburban dudes who can't bring themselves to take public transit into town for one of our high-end sneaker emporiums.
Too true. When my mom comes up to visit me she never likes to walk through Downtown Crossing and I always give her grief about it being because there's too many black people there.
No offense to the guys involved but this seems like a pretty stupid idea. Are they going to go cruising around suburban streets selling shoes door to door?
Even a geezer like myself can figure out that they will use Facebook, Twitter, etc. to broadcast their whereabouts to their interested customer fanbase, find out where people would like them to go, and drum up hype about their highly sought after footware.
(hey, I got some of my best steel-toe mosh pit boots off the shoemobile truck when I worked in a laboratory ...)
I just can't picture the setup for these guys out in the suburbs. I mean where is the truck going to set up other mall parking lots, most of which already have shoe stores.

An Emerson student? Even Emerson has given up on Downtown Crossing?
Doesn't this sound like it should be a store in DTX?
Oh no, wouldn't want well-off suburban W-worders seeking fashionable ghetto kicks to have to be exposed to actual low-income black people!
W-worders? Don't be shy -

Lo! They will alert Ye Olde Towne Crier ...
to bring tidings of imminent footwear provision!
Naw, not really.
