A man left Leroy Street in an ambulance early this morning after he was shot in the stomach, according to Adam Myerson and N.E. Alerts.

Myerson, who lives just off Leroy, reports five shots not long after midnight at 22 Leroy, across the street from 27 Leroy, where last Thursday, a man got out of a car shortly before midnight and fired several rounds without hitting anybody.

This is nothing new for this street. Old friend of mine grew up there. We used to trade stories of hearing gunshots in our respective areas, including a couple times where I heard the shots she heard on her street. Fun times...

It took me a long time to get used to not hearing sirens, and yes, gunshots, at night as I lied in bed. I remember well the first full year I didn't once hear the sound of a stolen vehicle crashing on my street. And I still can't get used to the fact I can walk to a store down the street and not worry about getting jumped. I don't think I'll ever fully relax, and I'm in my 30s now.
