When did bank robbers just stop caring about getting caught?

No mask, no fake beard, no nylons over the face, no nothing. The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force reports this guy walked into the People's United Bank branch at 86 Massachusetts Ave. around 8:10 a.m. on Monday and simply demanded money.

After getting an unspecified amount of money, he left on foot. He's described as about 5'5", slim, with some dark hair with just a touch of gray, a mustache and acne scars. He was wearing a dark zip-up hoodie with a gray T-shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.

He was just being compliant with the sign at the door of the bank the read "Please remove sunglasses and hat before entering the bank".

Again? Didn't they just get hit a few weeks ago? That's not even ballsy, it's just dumb.

Or desperate and doesn't care anymore. He might not qualify for public assistance and can't get a job that pays enough. Some of my neighbors are getting close to that set of circumstances.

it's much easier for a woman than a man to get any kind of assistance when you're hard up.

When everyone knows tellers will hand over the cash with just a note or verbal demand there is little to deter would be bank robbers looking for some quick cash to buy a fix. Getting eventually caught doesn't matter to them as much as getting the short term cash to get high.

I was under the impression these guys didn't get a whole lot of cash. It's normal operations for the bank and they have no reason to risk a customer or employee getting hurt which would cost a whole lot more in the end.

Is there an annual worst dressed list for criminals? Given all the surveillance cameras, there ought to be.

Would it be better if he was wearing a suit or polo shirt and dockers? Would this make him more 'respectable'? Do people who perform non 'respectable' jobs and don't dress like they work in finance, or some other 'white collar' job, get a pass?

I'm not even sure robbing a bank is a crime anymore - been a lot of changes to the law.
