Thanks guys, my grasp of the local geography is obviously tenuous at best. I was thinking of the building that is across from the State House, and this obviously isn't it.
At least, not on Beacon Street or Park Street, One of the ugly state office buildings is sort of across from the back of the State House, on Bowdoin Street.

Close, but...
Isn't 1 Beacon at Tremont, across from King's Chapel, not the Golden Dome? Our precious legislatures were not in danger.
Close enough to be called Beacon Hill, but ...
When the Beacon Hill movie theater still existed, it was located under this building. But yeah, "across from the State House" isn't quite correct.
Seconded
Yeah it's definitely not across the street from the State House. It's on the corner of Beacon and Tremont.

No high-rises across from the State House

Ashburton Place is what
Ashburton Place is what you're referring to. It's pretty damn close to being across the street, diagonally if you must.
