I notice that their website has directions on how to get to the street fair via public transportation. One problem with this: because of the other A/B festivities - the parade and the 5k race - the 57, 66, and 64 bus routes are all being diverted, and you can't get anywhere near Allston Village by bus.

No reason to divert the 64, it doesn't cross the parade route. I've used it to get by in the past. edit: although it does seem that the T is doing so. Not sure why this year. Maybe it only lasts until the parade finishes?

The 66 is supposed to make a stop at Harvard and Comm before going around the long[er] way to Harvard Square. So that's access from the south.

The 57 is screwed, though, and always is on this day.

There's always the Green Line...

Oh, man. Made the mistake of trying to cross through Brighton today, and then when we realized that was closed, were diverted into Allston which even worse. Wound up stuck in traffic for 45 minutes before finally crossing over the BU bridge, only to to remember that Mem Drive is closed on Sundays so I had to cut through Harvard Square to get where I was going.

After looking it up, apparently there was the Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon route walk, the Allston/Brighton parade, the Allston Village Street Fair, the Brian J. Honan 5K, and the Hub on Wheels. Getting through anywhere near there was just impossible.

Whose in charge of scheduling street-closing events?
