Finally, an A List to call our very own

TopTenSources aims to be the thinking person's blog and news directory. What makes the site different, according to founder John Palfrey, is that in each category, an expert will pick the ten best blogs - whose posts will then be aggregated on the same page (yes, Palfrey is also executive director of Harvard Law's Berkman Center for Internet and Society).

Mackenzie Chan, a native Bostonian, compiled the Boston page. Check out her list, which includes eight blogs (one of which modesty prevents me from mentioning) and two Globe/boston.com pages. Agree? Disagree? I'm tempted to copy the old Spy List idea (anybody remember Spy?) and just come up with a list of 10 random local blogs and call that the Boston B List, but damn, I've got to stop being such a pissant carper about everything - because Lord knows I wouldn't want to risk my 15 seconds of A-Listerdom.

They also have a top-ten Massachusetts political page.

I'm not certain what the WBUR Arts blog has to do with Boston other than it is produced locally--it certainly isn't a purely Boston blog or news source although I guess the inclusion of some Boston specific content qualifies it. Boston.com's most popular stories? That's a news source worthy of inclusion? Spare me. Boston Blood Sox? I'm not certain what makes them different from any other fan blog. Everything else seems like a good choice, including the Universal Hub.
