Neither that map, nor the one in the Globe, includes the awful fire at the Baptist Church on Centre Street, in January 2005.

I am a JP resident and I am suspicious as to the origins of these fires. Why is that three commercial blocks of businesses(South Street;, near Forest Hills; and now the Centre Street fire) have burned? These businesses have this in common: they are independently owned, probably 'underperforming' and lower-rent businesses. I wonder if this was a way to rout the tenants, rebuild, and shoot the rents to the moon. Who are the owners of these properties, anyway?
