Bertucci's waiter threatened with knife by guy who didn't feel like paying for his meal
By adamg on Tue, 09/14/2010 - 7:49am
The Daily Free Press reports that when a couple finished their $95 meal at the Kenmore Square Bertucci's and then sauntered out last Thursday afternoon, a waiter chased them outside only to have the guy whip out a knife to ward him off. Dude was in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair and a brown beard. Gal pal was 5'7" with red frizzy hair.

That waiter should have known -
That any two people who spend $95 (ninety-five dollars???????) at BERTUCCI's (????) will turn out to be jerks.
And...
...rather obese.
That's a whole lotta carbs.
Yeah, I thought that a pretty
Yeah, I thought that a pretty high bill too, but the blotter story said it was a drink bill, which would be easier to imagine. Still, that's a whole lotta drinking; wouldn't be surprised if it contributed a little to their notion that this was a good idea.
Oh, I could probably do that!
Oh, spousal unit and I have spent close to a hunge at moderately priced places. Not often or anything, but it's definitely happened when, say, we've had a tax refund burning a hole in our bank account.
If each person gets an entree ($10, $10) and a salad ($5, $5) and two mixed drinks ($10, $10, $10, $10), you're up to $70 before tax or tip or anything. Add on another drink, or get more expensive entrees (they have seafood and stuff there), or get after-dinner coffee which is always something godawful like $3 at restaurants, and you're there.
Yeah
Yeah, I didn't really take cocktails into account since I almost always just get beer rather than mixed drinks.
Bertucci's??
At of all place bertuccis?? They probably thought they'll get away because it a populated area. Aren't they a little to old to be doing this sh!t anyways?
Classy, as casual-dining-chain thefts go
If you're going to dine and dash and knife-menace, better from a Bertucci's than, say, an Applebee's or Olive Garden.
Although...
Your dash from Applebee's may be inhibited by the awful stomach cramps..."Police caught the offender less than a block away -- he was on his knees and vomiting." Used to refer to that particular establishment as Bootlebee's.
I vividly remember a couple of cases of food-borne illness...
Suffered from eating at Applebee's many long years ago. Vile place.
The Daily Free Press at BU
The Daily Free Press at BU could follow up on their police blotter regurgitation...
Lots of restaurants take a runner's bill out of the waiter's pay/tips, which is relevant info to BU students who might become waiters or runners. Does this Bertucci's?
That info might also be relevant to this particular waiter being in a situation in which he was threatened with a knife.
That's such BS
How is it any kind of appropriate to take a customer's misdeed out on the waiter? Yeah, punish the little guy because of something someone else did... and why? Is it ostensibly the waiter's misstep for not "managing his area better"? Oh man, that pisses me off so much.
