Panhandler sought for Roxbury carjacking

Boston Police report they are looking for a guy they say asked a motorist for money and, when the driver refused, got in the car, took control of it and drove away.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Washington and Elmore streets, police say:

Investigators received information that the suspect described as white male, approx. mid 30s, black curly hair, wearing a blue/white plaid shirt, approx. 6' tall, 200+lbs, attempted to speak to the driver through the passenger side window and asked for money. The victim refused, at which point the suspect entered the passenger side door and entered the vehicle, which was now parked. The suspect then demanded the victim's money and also grabbed his right arm. The victim said that he exited the running vehicle and started yelling for help.

The victim then observed the suspect exit the passenger's side door and re-enter through the driver’s side door and flee the scene with the victim's car by turning right onto MLK Blvd.

Police say they found the minivan abandoned a couple blocks away at Townsend Street and Walnut Avenue.
