'Punched in the face for no apparent reason'

Cambridge Police report on two punching incidents yesterday:

Around noon:

[T]wo victims stated that while they were walking on Mass. Ave. by Memorial Dr., a man approached them and punched them in the face for no apparent reason.

The puncher was arrested, taken to a local hospital for observation, police say.

Around 9 p.m., a Harvard student walking through Cambridge Common was set upon by four teenaged ruffians:

Taken was his gym bag. The unknown males attacked the victim from behind, not saying anything just punching him in the head.

In an unrelated incident, a Cambridge resident reported somebody pushed in his air conditioner to gain entry to his residence, then stole two bottles of vodka from his freezer.

"Ruffians?" Try "Robbers."

They committed a robbery, they're "robbers." But since it happened in Cambridge I guess they are just poor misunderstood "ruffians" who have only us to blame for their bad behavior. It figures.

Yes, you're right - they're robbers and thugs

I guess I'm too enamored of the word "ruffian" (also "yegg," but that's more of a cat burglar/GPS thief type of word).
