Globe union murmurs of defiance

The Boston Herald reports Boston Globe union officials are making noises about standing firm on concessions requested by NYTCo:

"The general attitude is, 'When is this going to stop?'" a top Globe union official said yesterday. "The unions are going to tell management, 'We've worked with you as much as we can. Now you are taking it too far.'"

Two of the possibly four quoted union officials/leaders are unnamed.

The way it looks to me, the Globe is going to be folding whether the unions make concessions or not. If they're losing 85 million a year, how is saving 20 million from the union going to help them?

What concessions do you think the Times management is going to demand from the union members? Hmm, how about severance and pensions? Get them to give those up, and then close the paper and lay them all off. There's a plan!

If the alternatives are getting laid off in a month without concessions or getting laid off in three months with concessions, then why not hold your line?
