Old News To Me
Donna LaRue, the woman mentioned in the blogger's post, is a good friend of mine, and she's been telling me about this for a couple of years. Donna knows her stuff, so I have no doubt that she's completely correct, and this blogger offers up just enough evidence to clinch it for me.
I doubt it will stop the flow of tourists to the Old North Church. It's hard to kill bad history once it gets turned into a tourist attraction.
Careful now
Actually, I disagreed with Donna La Rue on identifying Revere's "North Church" as the Old North Meeting-House. The evidence in my blog entry supports connecting the steeple with the lanterns in it to what we now call Old North Church.
People have been looking at the evidence for over 125 years. Consensus keeps settling on the crucial steeple being atop Christ Church, a/k/a "the North Church," a/k/a Old North Church.
Hmmm
Okay....
I have to say, then, that your post is more than a little confusing, because I walked away thinking you were agreeing with Donna. Now, maybe that's just because she's my friend and I wanted to read it that way, but I don't know that for sure.
What I got from the post
Was that Old North Church was Revere's North Church (because of the greater height of the steeple, etc.).
