Passengers walking narrow Green Line space to Hynes

Riders turned track walkers near Hynes.

The Green Line suffered a "power problem" near Kenmore and now it's rolled out the buses between Kenmore and Government Center. This was no mere inconvenience, though, as Jeremy DaCruz shows us, passengers had to get off the train with the "problem" and walk the narrow space between the trolley and the wall to stations, in his case, Hynes. James Harold, 79, of Medford, was owner of the Rat in Kenmore Square, in the pre-BU, pre-hotel era, when Mr. Butch held court and Deli Haus served breakfast late into the night. He died Sunday at 79.

Squashed Ryder box truck in Kenmore Square

Greg Moseley took some pictures this afternoon of a Ryder box truck just sitting on Beacon Street in Kenmore Square around 4:15 p.m., looking suspiciously like it was freshly storrowed. What else could cause that sort of damage in that area? Read more.

The MBTA, which just announced completion of some serious track improvements along the B Line, is now telling riders to brace for trolley-to-trolley transfers and delays because of a broken rail at a switch at Kenmore station. Read more.

Bladeless fan in Kenmore Green Line station

Glenn Whidden reports this fan in the Kenmore Square Green Line station isn't plugged in, although he adds:

No point, it has no blades. Never change MBTA.

$30,000 wanted guy

Boston Police reports two people having trouble transferring money to relatives in China got hooked up with a guy who said he could take care of it, but after they handed over $30,000 in a meeting in Kenmore Square, the guy ran away. Read more.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Garrett Harker, forced out of the Hotel Commonwealth in Kenmore Square, plans to open four "food and beverage concepts" in a new luxury building a couple blocks from the hotel at 771 Beacon St..

The Globe reports that Eastern Standard, Island Creek Oyster Bar and the Hawthorne will be replaced by brasserie, seafood and sushi "concepts" run by some New York concern that runs other "concepts" in places like Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports the two restaurants are seeking to transfer their liquor licenses to UrbanMeritage, the company that runs the retail space inside the Hotel Commonwealth. That usually happens when a property owner or manager wants to keep liquor licenses as they look for a new restaurant operator.
