Boston Police report arresting three men they say had stealing catalytic converters off parked cars down to an art: One guy used a jack and power tool to saw off the converter, another stood guard as a lookout and the third remained behind the wheel of a running vehicle nearby for a fast getaway. West Roxbury bridge in poor shape

Westie bridge is crumbling down, crumbling down, crumbling down, my fair lady.

MassDOT plans to replace the bridge that carries West Roxbury Parkway between the Holy Name rotary and Belgrade Avenue over the Needham Line train track sometime in 2024, following a July inspection that found it in "poor" condition. Read more.

A Randolph man faces a variety of charges after he allegedly ran a woman down outside North Station early this morning, while a couple of his pals face charges that they made asses of themselves at the scene and then again at the police station, where they were arrested after allegedly chest bumping cops and challenging them to a fight, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. A Transit Police officer who happened on a car just sitting on a Sullivan Square onramp up to I-93 north early Monday wound up arresting the driver, who was asleep behind the wheel with the lights off but the motor running, a gun loaded with eight rounds in the car with him, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. SUV into house on Hyde Park Avenue

Live Boston reports that an SUV driver drove right into the side of a house at 829 Hyde Park Ave. around 3 a.m. on Saturday, and that the driver got out and tried fleeing on foot when he saw blue lights approaching, only "about a dozen residents of Hyde Park Avenue restrained him to prevent him from leaving."

Remains of crashed truck

Tony shows us the suddenly sagging trailer of an 18-wheeler whose driver found out what happens when you hit a guard rail at the intersection of Milton Street and Hyde Park Avenue by the Readville train station. Hyde Park rush-hour traffic, already a daily mess due to the closing of the River Street Bridge in Cleary Square, got even worse.

Car into London Street house, with parking ticket

The Boston Fire Department reports no injuries after a driver drove into 106 London St. in East Boston shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday. 16 residents were displaced pending an inspection to ensure no structural damage.

The department did not say if the car already had a parking ticket or if an industrious BTD worker placed it there following the crash.

A little kid crossing Centre Street at Bellevue Street was hit by a car driver who apparently ran a red light there, around 3:25 p.m., according to witnesses - although the driver says he thinks he had a green light. Read more.

Jessica Dello Russo watched today as state troopers opened up the special Backup of Shame ramp from the Callahan Tunnel entrance to the Greenway today and then guided another big-rig driver slowly backwards up to the street after he realized his truck wasn't going to fit without a haircut.

State officials announced today they now have the money in hand for what could be a ten-year project to replace the current decrepit hulk of an overpass that connects Storrow Drive and the Fenway over part of the Emerald Necklace with more graceful roads - and new paths and parkland aimed at reconnecting the Emerald Necklace and the Esplanade, which were severed when the overpass went up over Charlesgate in the 1960s.
