The Boston Fire Department reports a driver plowed into Threading for Beauty and Sebastian's Barber Shop on Corinth Street, just around the corner from Belgrade Avenue in Roslindale, this morning, destroying the businesses and taking out a good part of the building. Read more.

But like one of their grandparents, they will be greeted at Boston City Hall before riding off to Somerville (in a limo, no doubt, rather than the Green Line Extension) to visit the home of dozens of climate tech startups.

Sullivan's Pharmacy on Corinth Street in Roslindale Square will be closed Monday morning so that employees can attend the burial of owner Gregory Laham, who transformed what had been a basic neighborhood drugstore into a supplier of specialized prescriptions and medical equipment able to stay open even as chains forced the shutdown of other independent pharmacies across the state. Family Dollar closing in West Roxbury

The Family Dollar store, where Value Village used to be, at the corner of Centre and Park streets, is closing for good one of these days, which means West Roxburyans with a yen for discount stuff will have to drive into Roslindale, Hyde Park or Dedham for a Family Dollar. Owner Harris Krafchik put the 8,000-square foot building, built in 1930, up for lease this summer.

Workers at several Boston Starbucks walked off the job this morning as part of a nationwide strike, including: Cleveland Circle, 1304 Commonwealth Ave. and 217 Western Ave. in Brighton, 874 Commonwealth Ave. at BU and Federal Street downtown.

After voting in July to reject a proposed marijuana shop at the corner of Washington and Fairbanks streets in Brighton, the Zoning Board of Appeal today approved the proposal, subject to several conditions, including that the owner come back in a year for a review to see how the place is fitting into the neighborhood and to post a sign with a 24-hour number residents can call to complain about any noisy or otherwise annoying shop customers. Karen Hensel, who worked as an investigative reporter at NBC Boston from its start in 2016 until she was fired n 2019, today filed a sex discrimination suit against the station, accusing it of firing her over her relationship with the police chief of a Worcester suburb when other newsroom employees were getting away with the same thing or worse, except they were men - and of ignoring an unending barrage of harassment by one of her fellow investigative reporters. MassBio announced today that Joe Boncore of Winthrop is stepping down as president, a year after he took the job after stepping down as state senator for the 1st Suffolk and Middlesex district, now represented by Lydia Edwards. He is setting up a consulting practice - and one of his first clients will be MassBio, which he will advise on "state and federal issues."
