Carmen reports the cop didn't seem very happy about it, but he still ran a busker out of the South Station T stop last night for not having a permit - and that really annoyed all the people who'd been listening to him:

... One woman thought it was all her fault, that she had brought attention to the busker by asking him to play a song for her. She had been singing along when the mean cop came along. "I feel terrible," she said. "I've been working up my courage for weeks just to ask him to play that song for me."

Sam Baltrusis reports that while a Plymouth group is getting all the attention for building a massive movie studio, a development team out of Los Angeles hopes to beat Plymouth to the punch with its own giant studio, at the old Weymouth Naval Air Station:

... [T]he front-lot-set streets of SouthField Studios will be sourced from historic Boston City locales. In fact, the set is a dead ringer for any brownstone-lined street in the South End or Back Bay neighborhoods. It's Beacon Hill ... without the hill. ...

Where have all of the old-fashioned town bands gone? Today, most of them seem to be dead. Years ago, almost every town had its own volunteer band; there were also fantastic professional bands touring the country (Gilmore, Sousa, Pryor, Clarke, etc.), and therefore, all kinds of music were made available to the public for free -- by town bands. Now, a player has to travel to join one, because there aren't any in his/her home town any more.

Call it Irish-gangster musical chairs. First some Irish-gangster movie is moved from Southie to Eastie because Southie is no longer gritty enough. Now Sam Baltrusis reports that another Irish-gangster movie is being moved from Charlestown to Somerville to avoid confusion with an Irish-gangster movie set in Charlestown and an Irish-gangster TV pilot set in Charlestown.
