Egret with fuzzy feathers at Belle Isle Marsh

State Police report a Winthrop man who drove his 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible into a parked pickup truck on WInthrop Shore Drive around 3 p.m. currently faces an OUI charge but will face additional charges because both of his passengers died, one at the scene, the other at the hospital. The Boston Fire Department reports a 55-gallon drum full of unspecified hazardous waste materials at the MWRA treatment plant became "over pressurized."

We sent in an entry team under air in level B suits to release the pressure from the drum. There were no exposures or spills . There are no injuries to report. We evacuated the building as a precaution.

CommonWealth interviews incoming Suffolk County DA Rachael Rollins:

More recently, Rollins has seemed to temper the policy, saying the approach will be not to seek incarceration for first-time offenders for the list of 15 charges, but she stopped short of saying they would not face prosecution.

The State House News Service summarizes a panel discussion with Rachael Rollins, newly elected Suffolk County DA and Liz Miranda and Nika Elugardo, both elected as state representatives.
