Pressed Sandwiches squashed

The Boston Business Journal reports the three downtown sandwich shops were shut this weekend, victim of an economy in which the office workers who are left are more likely to brown bag it at lunch time.

The Pressed Sandwiches location at One Beacon St. used to be the entrance to the (below-ground) Sack Beacon Hill Theatre.

I'm willing to bet that the arrival of J Pace & Sons on the same block as Pressed in South Boston had a LOT to do with the demise of that location.

I hate to see local businesses bite the dust. Their sandwiches weren't bad....although they oiled them up a bit too much. Service wasn't great either, but I'm still sad to see them go.

...that made my Cuban sandwiches from there seem a little bit oily.

Anyway I'm sad to see the place go, I tried to stop by whenever I was in the vicinity. I liked the place.
