Get stuck on 128 this morning?

Nothing like a little smash action during the morning rush (in this case, on the southbound side by Rte. 9) to slow things down.

Ambiguous sign modification in JP

IMAGE(http://cosmopictures.s3.amazonaws.com:80/arborway_motor.jpg)

The Arborway sign was altered to read "Motorway" this morning. The message is somewhat ambiguous - are pedestrians and cyclists protesting the speed and noise of traffic along Boston's parkways? Or is it motorists laying claim to their turf?

Salamis like you wouldn't believe

Tom Nealon sings the praises of Baza, a Newton market dedicated to all things eastern European:

... Stand outs are the selection of herrings, smoked, dried, salted, and the salamis. I've certainly seen impressive arrays of salamis before - hanging from the rafters in salami enthusiasts basements or overhead in fancy meat markets, but here they are neatly arranged in the deli cabinet with their English names and prices easily visible (which can be a problem at other markets for those of us who learned all their Russian from watching A Fish Called Wanda). ...

Showing the colors in Dedham

In Charlestown, it was Bunker Hill Day, but down in Dedham, they threw a parade for Flag Day.

Fruits and veggies are patriotic, especially when they're throwing candy:

She's a grand old flag:

Reflecting on Dedham Center:

Even clowns got in the spirit of things:

As did unicyclists:

Flag action:

A giant American flag hung from a crane over the center of town. At the end of the parade, it took several guys to get it down and folded up:

Roslindale to get Popeye's, but where?

UPDATE: One commenter says it'll be in the strip mall on American Legion Highway, the one by all the flower places and across from the KFC, not the one with the Stop & Shop.

Turns out that a couple months ago, the fried-chicken chain posted a Monster.com ad that started:

Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits with over 1600 restaurants nationwide is looking for experienced management for its newest restaurant opening in Roslindale ...

Then, earlier today, Toyuwa Newton tweeted:

Can someone tell me why my people are so excited about a Popeye's fried chicken joint opening up in Roslindale?

Anybody know where? The new old Stop & Shop mall on American Legion?
