DA: Brighton woman tried to end argument by setting daughter and her companion ablaze
A Brighton woman was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail - and ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation - at her arraignment today on charges of attempted murder and arson, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office report.
Prosecutors say Lisa Brown began arguing with the pair early Sunday. After she began making unspecified threats, they say, the two retreated to a bedroom in the Jette Court apartment and locked the door, only to have Brown continue to yell at them and bang on the door. And then:
The victims then began to smell lighter fluid and heard the click of a lighter. After seeing flames and smoke under the bedroom door, one of the victims opened the bedroom door and found Brown holding a knife and blocking their exit.
The victims retreated to the bedroom and called the fire department. They tried to exit the bedroom door again, but prosecutors said it had been locked from the outside with a dead bolt.
According to the DA's office, which did not specify what the argument was about, police found Brown at Comm. Ave. and Fidelis Way, in possession of a kitchen knife, lighter fluid and two lighters.
Innocent, etc.

Um, what?
A dead-bolt lock, on the outside of the bedroom door?
I'm glad everyone got out, and Ms. Brown is headed someplace where she can't do quite so much damage.
City Housing Project?
It was reported elsewhere that this occurred at a city housing project. The mother seems in need of assistance, but why does an adult, 21 year old daughter get housing assistance? Still in school?
Assumption.
It appears at least Mom lives in the apartment. It is not clear whether the daughter is living with her at this point.
Bang boyfriend on mom's bed?
So you are suggesting the daughter may have gone into the mother's room to bang her boyfriend? That probably would make mom see red.
Boyfriend?
Did any of these sources specify that the companion was male?
Media accounts are all calling him the boyfriend
Media accounts by reporters who do things like actually calling up BPD and BFD spokespeople, as opposed to chicken-with-head-cut-off social-media-type reporters who go with press releases that don't specify the relationship - but, yes, which did specify he is male.
Um, no.
How about they ran into the bedroom to escape her Mom because they feared for their safety?
