Jury selection starts for man charged with murdering three outside a Dorchester house party
Jury selection gets underway today for the trial of Keron Pierre, accused of murdering three people, and trying to kill a fourth, outside a Mt. Ida Road party in 2009, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Police settled on Pierre as their main suspect not long after the murders of Shakora Gaines, Chantal Palmer, and Anthony Peoples, but he fled to Trinidad - where he was arrested on a marijuana-possession charge and then fought extradition to the US on the grounds that the potential life sentence he faced was "cruel and unusual punishment. In late 2012, a Trinidadian judge denied his request to stay on the island, ruling "this is not a man who killed in self defense."
Innocent, etc.
