Jumping, bicycling bank robber arrested, authorities say
A man who'd taken to robbing a different Boston-area bank once a month was arrested today, the US Attorney's office reports.
Among John Soule's alleged targets was the Webster Bank branch on Franklin Street, held up last month by a man who pedaled away on a bicycle.
According to the US Attorney's office:
In all three robberies, the defendant, wearing a hat, sunglasses, and gloves, entered the bank, jumped over the teller counter, and made verbal demands for the bank’s money.
Soule, 52, had made off with $58,000 from the three robberies - of the Webster Bank branch on Aug. 9, an Eastern Bank branch in Cambridge on July 12 and a Rockland Trust branch in Quincy on Sept. 8, the US Attorney's office reports.
Soule was ordered held without bail until a probable-cause hearing on Oct. 5. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
Innocent, etc.
