... To be fair, I was going to Cambridge on the Red Line (which also decided to sit still for five minutes on the Longfellow... but that's nothing new). Under any other circumstances - even during this ridiculous ice-mess - I'd rather walk miles than take the Green Line.
But yes - I love the idea of a series "T commutes that would have been shorter on foot"... but I think that might make for the most depressing blog ever.
Anywhere on the B Line beyond Kenmore to anywhere else on the B Line beyond Kenmore.
If you just miss the train at Washington St, you can almost be guaranteed to reach Kenmore before the next train catches up to you at any hour other than rush hour (and even some rush hours).
When the weather's nice (and if you have a T pass), it's quicker to exit at Park Street and walk to Aquarium. The first time I tried this I walked at a leisurely pace, stopped a couple of times, and ended up getting on a train at Aquarium, on which there were a couple of people I'd seen on my Green Line train. Maybe not a lot faster, but the walk and the fresh air are much better than waiting around for a train. The same can probably be said for walking from Charles/MGH to Govt Center, and DTX to State (Red Line to Blue Line), but I've never timed it.
It's not a bad walk on a nice day. Not particularly interesting, but not bad. If they kept Bowdoin Station open for more than a few hours a week, it would be even better.
This is the main instance in which I can see myself using the theoretical red-blue connector at Charles/MGH. Red Line from camberville to C/MGH, change to blue and go to Aquarium. Of course by the time they build it I'll probably be waaaay too old to be going to the fanueil area (I may be already)
instead of walking to the train station or waiting at a bus depot to take public transportation to Harvard Square for a noontime screening of the classic film, "Dr. Zhivago" at the Brattle, I made the trek from my place to the Brattle Theatre despite the falling snow, in 45 minutes, arriving at the Brattle Theatre just in time for the movie. Walking took less time than it would've taken via public transportation, and I didn't have to worry about parking, either.

Dude, mix in some Orange Line from Back Bay stop to Downtown Crossing, then take the footbridge to Park St.
