The state and Berklee College of Music say they free musical performances outside the Aquarium and Wonderland stops twice a week will help take commuters' minds off what are now regular delays due to wire inspections on top of the delays caused by all the slow zones and all the crowding caused by people who normally drive but who have to deal with the Sumner Tunnel shutdown. Around 7 p.m., the MBTA announced inbound delays of 20 minutes due to "a train with a power problem at Copley," or what Chen Cao described as "wires down" just inbound from Copley - about 40 minutes after similar delays due to a dead trolley at Arlington. Read more.

NBC Boston reports Boston firefighters were able to free the woman around 5 p.m. on Friday, after which Boston EMS transported her to a local hospital. The T notes it did not move the train until after the woman was freed.

Transit Police report arresting Kristen Kulch, 37, at the Wellington Orange Line stop around 2 p.m. yesterday for allegedly punching an elderly man and woman repeatedly after they asked if she could move her bag so they could sit together. Read more.

Red Line woes just never end. The MBTA reports delays of up to 20 minutes on the Red Line because not one, but two trains had to be pulled from service at Braintree on account of being deceased.

The wiring fire on a train at Charles/MGH this morning wasn't the only, um, excitement on the Red Line this morning. Owen reported:

I’m in red line car car 01717. As the train came into Davis station the ceiling at the very rear of the platform started crumbling with debris falling across the platform and a large cloud of dust. It send me and a handful of others running in case of larger debris.

Transit Police report arresting the guy they charge grabbed a woman by the buttocks at Harvard Square station on July 2. They said the man, 31, was arrested at his home in Roxbury yesterday.

The Boston Transportation Department has decided this is the year of the 39 and 57 buses - and has launched studies to see how to improve their routes to get people to and fro faster - and let them "wait comfortably at their bus stops and board the bus safely." Read more.

Update: After increasing the delays to 30 minutes, the T has just called off the trains and is bustituting between Park and JFK/UMass as workers try to clear whatever the debris is.

The MBTA reports delays of up to 15 minutes on the Red Line "while we investigate reports of debris in the track area at Broadway."

CommonWealth reports on the seeming paradox of the percentage of subway tracks subject to speed restrictions has actually been going up of late, although it's still less than when the T first announced it had some issues that needed immediate fixing.

MBTA Commuter Rail reported at 7:47 p.m. that a train that left Wickford Junction at 4:35 p.m. remained stuck in Sharon, more than two hours after it was supposed to pull into South Station, because of a dreaded "mechanical issue," and now the crew and passengers are waiting for the 5:48 p.m. train from Wickford Junction to arrive and try to push it all the way into town, or off the tracks or something.
