The Urban Mechanic gladly pays the tunnel tolls to get to Belle Isle Seafood in East Boston, adds:
... While locals may not give much thought to the ignorance of their fellow Hubsters on the mainland, any half-serious, self-respecting foodie in Boston should pay serious attention to this neighborhood. Seriously! ...

belle isle is great
If you have never been there, you are missing out on a winner. My personal favorite is the baked stuffed haddock. It's 11 or 12 bucks for the dinner version, but it is more than most could finish.
Blue Line to Bus 712/3 to Belle Island Seafood
Winthrop runs a bus from Orient Heights right past Belle Island Seafood.
So those of us can afford neither the Tobin toll—nor a car, for that matter—can easily and cheaply get to these great lobster rolls.

Its also a nice walk from the blue line. I've got to say I'd never considered going to eastie for dinner when I lived in the North End. Now that I live in Eastie, I hardly go downtown. There are some great culinary finds in Eastie and the prices tend to be cheaper as well.
Yes, T accessible
Thanks to the quick readers and contributors here to catch my obvious omission of how to get there (except by car). The Winthrop bus does run right by that spot and for nicer days one can certainly ride the blue line to Orient Heights station. The stop is roughly a mile straight up Saratoga Street. Both will save you a couple bucks and ensure you see a bit more of the neighborhood.
Belle Isle getting the
Belle Isle getting the credit it deserves! Huzzah!
An alternative is just taking the Blue Line to Orient Heights and walk down Saratoga Street for 0.6mi. Easy peasy.
Interesting. But he spelled
Interesting. But he spelled lobster wrong.
Love Belle Isle
We just ate from there last night...nothing like having some great fish while watching the planes land overhead.
You can also avoid the tolls by going down 16 towards Everette. It isn't that far from Medford/Somerville at all.

That's a pretty simple-minded question.
