Lawyers for the owners of the Lower Mills Pub on Dorchester Avenue are hoping the Boston Licensing Board gives them a couple months to unravel a tangled skein of legal issues left when longtime co-owner Nicholas Byrne died after a long illness five years ago, so that they can sell the bar to a prominent Boston restaurant operator.

Boston Police report a man hanging out with what he thought were his friends at 1 Aspinwall St. in Codman Square late Thursday suddenly found himself beaten and robbed by them.

When police arrived at a residence on Bradlee Street in Dorchester on the evening of Oct. 9 to investigate gunfire, they found a basement full of guys who all basically denied knowing anything about gunfire or even a gun - at least until the keen-eyed officers noticed one sitting in a pocket of the pool table they were all standing around.

Police are searching for a group of young men they think may have shot out the rear window of an occupied car on Stonehurst Street near Hamilton around 6 p.m.

The driver, not injured, told police he saw the group of four or five approaching his car and, not liking the looks of things, began to drive away - only to have his window shot out.

A stabbing victim who walked into the Boston Medical Center ER around 4:25 p.m. said it had happened about 25 minutes earlier at Jeremiah Burke High School, 60 Washington St.

The suspect is described as a Cape Verdean teen dressed in a gray hoodie and blue pajama pants.

The Boston Licensing Board today gave Maria Market, 779 Dorchester Ave. in the Polish Triangle, a license to begin selling beer and wine as owner John Nguyen tries to transform it into more of an "urban market" servicing a neighborhood going upscale.

Boston Police report arresting a 16-year-old after a cop on a walking beat in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Johnston Road heard gunfire, then saw two guys running from the scene, around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

The officer pursued the suspects on foot, but to no avail. Responding officers canvassed the area and recovered two firearms, a black Berretta .40 caliber handgun and a black Colt revolver, on the ground in the area of 7 Wilcock Street.

Around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters rushed to the Talbot Collision Center, 215 Talbot Ave., where they found at least two cars on fire.

Police are investigating gunfire around 3:45 p.m. on Devon Street near Normandy. At least one of the rounds pierced the wall of an building on Stanwood Street and wound up in apartment there. There were no injuries.

Two teens who robbed two women - and pistol whipped one of them - near Ashmont station early this morning were arrested not long after when police activated the tracking app on one of the phones.

Boston Police report an attempt to arrest a gang member on crack charges ended in a melee in which the guy escaped - but after which they were able to arrest a kid with a loaded 9-mm gun in his waistband.

Boston Police report that Jimmy Velasquez, 49, was shot to death around 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 14 at 14 Glenarm St.

A two-alarm fire at 34 Bellevue St. also caused extensive exterior damage to the neighboring three decker, the Boston Fire Department reports.

WBZ reports somebody sitting in a car on Olney Street was shot around 1:30 p.m. Because of the severity of the person's injuries, the homicide unit was summoned. The Herald reports the shooting was likely "gang related" and that the victim should survive.

Around 11:40 a.m. on Monday on Ainsley Street. She was taken away in stable condition. A suspect was arrested not long after several blocks up Adams Street.

Police are looking for the two teens witnesses said fired guns as they ran down Harrow Street in Uphams Corner shortly after 9 p.m., and the white car they shot at as it turned onto Humphreys Street
