Big fake gun seized in Dorchester

Boston Police report officers responding to about a man aiming an assault rifle out his window at 20 South Point Dr. Wednesday evening found a guy with a Sage International BB Rifle:

The suspect told the officers he had been firing the gun out of his window for fun. There were no reports of injuries or damage to property. The suspect has not been charged with an offense at this time.

Boston Police report a man was shot around 8:40 p.m. at 96 Intervale St. He was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he died.

Transit Police report a man believed to be in his 50s was hit and killed by a train at the Braintree platform at JFK/UMass.

The man died from his injuries, police say, adding that while an investigation is underway, foul play is not suspected. The Dorchester Reporter reports he jumped.

Extricating the man and investigating the incident halted Red Line service to Braintree; passengers crowded outside stations waiting for shuttle buses; some were able to get on South Shore-bound commuter-rail trains.what

Michael McCarthy, 35, was charged today with the murder of Bella Neveah Amoroso Bond, 2 1/2.

McCarthy's girlfriend - and Bella's mother - Rachelle Bond, 40, was charged as an accessory after the fact. Read more.

Dominic Shiner, 33, was ordered held without bail today at his arraignment on a charge he stabbed Sean Dwyer to death in front of Dwyer's barbershop on Adams Street in Dorchester last December. He was arrested Friday following his indictment by a Suffolk County grand jury.

As Dwyer's mother, other relatives, friends and Boston Police detectives listened, Assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Julie Higgins said that just two days before the murder, Shiner had shown up at Dwyer's shop and asked him for some money, which she said Dwyer gave him. Read more.

Boston and Brookline Police report arresting a couple of guys they say robbed at least 11 stores in August and September, most recently a market across from the Brookline Village T stop Thursday evening - one night after they knocked over the Rosedale Market at 547 Washington St. in Codman Square. Boston Police report a woman was indecently attacked around 3 a.m. on Saturday at Boston and Mayhew streets in Dorchester - almost two months after another woman was similarly attacked late at night in the area of Farragut Road in South Boston.

In both cases, the attacker was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s; in one case, 5'9" or 5'10" and in the other 5'7" to 5'9." Also, in both cases, the women screamed for help and the guy then ran off.

UPDATE: Suspects arrested.

The Dunkin' Donuts at 1580 Dorchester Ave. was held up at gunpoint around 10:25 p.m., by a bald black man in his late 30s or early 40s - which is the same description given for the suspect in armed robberies this morning at the nearby McDonald's and outside the Fields Corner T stop.

The Globe reports on a forum for the districts now represented by Charles Yancey and Tito Jackson - the only ones to have enough candidates to require preliminaries on Tuesday.

Perennial candidate Roy Owens, this time running for Jackson's seat, demanded the city stop asking churches to close on Sunday for "rock and roll."

The Dorchester Reporter reports city elections officials managed to correct a precinct problem that had 400 residents assigned to District 3, where Frank Baker has no preliminary, when they should have been assigned to District 4, where Charles Yancey faces a preliminary election on Tuesday.
