An East Boston man faces a variety of gun charges for the two guns, one loaded with 31 bullets and a laser attachment, he had stowed in his sweatshirt and sweatpants, that state troopers found when they pulled him over for bombing past a stop sign while making a left turn in East Boston Monday afternoon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Boston Police report officers who stopped a man for running a red light at Bowdoin Street and Geneva Avenue in Dorchester around 3:35 a.m. arrested him after noticing he was packing what turned out to be a gun loaded with 15 bullets. Read more.

Agents from a variety of federal law-enforcement agencies and Boston Police today swept up more than 40 alleged members of the Heath Street gang, based at the Mildred Hailey apartments in Jamaica Plain, on charges that range from drug dealing and being a felon in possession of a firearm to committing RICO violations.

A house on Pinedale Road, off Canterbury Street in Roslindale, was hit by at least four bullets, one of which wound up inside, around 6:45 this morning. WCVB reports no injuries. Police found five shell casings across the street.

A federal judge today dismissed a lawsuit by a now former radiologist over the state's gun laws, saying the Supreme Court still gives states the rights to regulate guns and besides, he really needs to first finish his appeal in state court on his convictions for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
