Update: Board requested Millare meet with the neighborhood group, but said it didn't want to hold her up when the mayor's office told her she didn't have to, so approved her license.

The Boston Licensing Board could decide tomorrow whether to grant a food-serving license to Janeth Millare to open Pinoy Kabayan Filipino Asian Cuisine at 71-73 Broad St. downtown.

A woman told she couldn't bring a bottle of beer with her at closing time at Barney's Grill, 299 Havre St. in East Boston, reacted by hurling the bottle at the bartender, hitting her in the chest, the bartender and police told the Boston Licensing Board today. Read more.

Members of the Benevolent and Protective Order Of Elks lodge in Brighton Center have been told they can no longer freely move from their bar into private parties at the lodge's function room after police on a snap inspection dinged the place for having too many people stuffed in the function room. A Brighton Center liquor store that had become known as the place for Boston College students to buy booze says it's bought a new license scanner with which to bar underage drinkers with fake licenses, even as Boston Police step up stakeouts there to nab Eaglets with a thirst for beverages that should still be two or three years beyond their grasp.
