Just off the ramp from the Arsenal Street Bridge to Soldiers Field Road at the Charles River is this bunker. Presuming it's not a failed Dharma Initiative project with a keyboard where somebody has to enter a sequence to save the world every 108 minutes, anybody know what it is, or was, for?

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on gun and drug charges early Sunday morning after, they say, an altercation that started when he laughed at the sight of another man falling inside the Soldiers Field Road IHOP ended when he pulled out a gun loaded with 11 rounds and threatened the man with it. Some time before 8:25 p.m. or so, when Dev arrived at the scene, the driver of a box truck learned his truck was no match for the Grand Junction train bridge just before the BU Bridge, where Soldiers Field Road inbound becomes Storrow Drive. The judges rate this 9/10, deducting a point because the truck did not disgorge its contents all over the road.

At 3:25 p.m., State Police reported that Soldiers Field Road in Allston was shut inbound at North Harvard thanks to another box truck driver thinking he could squeeze under a bridge, only it turns out he couldn't.

DCR reports it will be shutting Soldiers Field Road in both directions at the North Harvard Street between 10 p.m. tonight and 4 a.m. tomorrow to allow for routine bridge inspections.

The McDonald's at 1750 Soldiers Field Rd. in Brighton is old. How old? It's so old the franchise owner had to file a formal declaration with the city Landmarks Commission to determine whether it was of any historic interest and possibly worth saving. Read more.
