Sounding a traditional liberal theme of fighting for a government that does good, Attorney General Martha Coakley this morning announced she's running for the Senate seat vacated by Ted Kennedy's death.
Andy Card, one-time Mass. state rep. and more recently chief of staff under W., tells Channel 4 he is thinking about running for Ted Kennedy's seat:

The Herald reports Attorney General Martha Coakley took out papers today to run for Senate.
Gov. Deval Patrick announces; says he will try to get legislation to let him pick an interim senator (hearing on Sept. 9).
Primaries are Dec. 8, according to this schedule.
Facebook group wants the Republican state senator from Needham to run.
